For the past two in a half years I have literally been living out of a bag. I know, I know.. You’re probably thinking somewhere along the lines of, “Poor girl,” or maybe something like, “Why?! What’s going on?” It’s not as awful as it sounds though, I swear. Living out of a bag for two in a half years is the result of being in your twenties, being in a serious relationship, and still living with your parents.
Don’t get me wrong, living out of a bag isn’t all that great either. It gets tiring bouncing from house to house all of the time. For the moment though, this situation is the one that works the best for us, so why not make the most of it! Living out of a bag for two in a half years I have learned a few key essentials that you should always keep in your travel bag:
First off, dry shampoo! Dry shampoo is your best friend when you’re in a pinch and you don’t have time to wash your hair before going somewhere. My favorite is this one by Batiste. Next, a hair straightener that you can use to both straighten and curl your hair, that way you don’t have to carry around both. The one I have is made by CHI, similar to this one. I also always keep my CHI Iron guard in my bag to protect my hair when I use hot tools on it. Last for hair is hair spray! On a daily basis when I don’t need a lot of hold, I use Aussie Headstrong Volume Hair Spray.
Next, you need a makeup remover/face wash. My favorite face wash is Philosophy Purity Made Simple One-Step Facial Cleanser. Philosophy is the best face wash I have used. I also keep Neutrogena Makeup Removing Towelettes in my bag in case I don’t have immediate access to water. I also always keep a hydrating facial moisturizer in my bag to put on before bed every night, but I haven’t found one that I love yet to share with you all.
Lastly, are some odds and ends stuff. Of course I keep my deodorant in there, along with a body lotion, and feminine products. If you’re like me and wear contacts, you’ll also need to keep saline solution in your bag, (my favorite is Optifree Express.)
There you go! Those are my essentials for living out of a bag, (without including trips back home for clothes every few days, and without including essentials that I keep at both houses; like a toothbrush and such.)
