Sunny and 75.. I know those are the lyrics to a song by Joe Nichols, but I couldn’t help myself because that’s exactly what the weather was like this past Saturday. Sunny and 75, it’s the perfect combination for a beautiful wedding day! Instead of just writing about a beautiful wedding with two beautiful people you all don’t know, I figured I’d share a get ready with me instead.
On a normal everyday basis, I’m the kind of girl to throw on a minimal amount of makeup and go.. But this was a special event, so of course that gave me the opportunity to play with my favorite makeup look. The products I wore, are very tried and true.. They’re all of my favorite go-to’s.
I started off with Almay Smartshade on my face, it’s more like a BB cream than a foundation because I cannot stand the look or feel of a foundation on my face.. They all look and feel too cakey to me, (if you know what I mean.) Then, I filled in my eyebrows with NYX Eyebrow Powder. That’s not my usual eye brow powder, but that’s the only decent one that I could find the last time I went to the store. My usual is Salon Perfect Eyebrow Defining Powder, in case you want to try that, but the NYX one is pretty comparable. On my eyes, I used my Urban Decay NAKED Palette. I used the shades Naked, Sidecar, Hustle, Gunmetal,Creep, and then I used Virgin under my brow bone. I also used Physicians Formula Eyebrightener for the corners of my eyes, (I love this stuff to brighten up my eye corners, even when I wear minimal makeup.) I then used my absolute favorite mascara, Maybelline New York Lash Stiletto. Then, on my face I used Neutrogena Skinclearing Mineral Powder, Maybelline New York FIT me! Powder as a bronzer, and L’OREAL True Match Blush on my cheeks.
Onto the hair! When I started my hair on Saturday, I didn’t really know what I wanted to do with it. I started out by putting my Batiste dry shampoo for brunettes in it, just to help give it a little more volume, (Lord knows I have the flattest hair and that it’s an everyday struggle to get it to look like it has volume.) Now, when I say that Batiste is the best dry shampoo out there, I really mean it, because I have tried at least 10 other brands, and I have not liked any others. Then I teased it a little bit all over. Next I grabbed about a one inch section of hair on each side and braided each. After braiding each strand, I slowly pulled at them all the way down the strand to make the braids appear bigger. I then tied the two braids together with a small hair band at the back of my head. Then I just curled all of my hair with a 1-inch curling iron, but I wrapped each strand around the barrel vs. actually clamping it in and curling it. I then finished it off by spraying it all with my Amica Touchable Hair Spray, (this stuff smells amazing and holds very well, without leaving your hair feeling crunchy.)
Tada! All of that effort for one look!
We ended up having a great time at the wedding, and it was such a beautiful wedding to attend. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Smith. I wish you both a beautiful life together!
